We can probably agree that for every collector a sense of achievement is a powerful motivator. However, the way we find that feeling of success can vary. Perhaps it’s when you save up enough money to buy that super rare Pikachu Illustrator Card or when you finally complete your collection of Disney movies on VHS. Whatever it is that motivates you, one of the biggest honors a collector can achieve is recognition from Guinness World Records. These five collectors found their sense of achievement by breaking records for the biggest collections in the world. See what it takes to accomplish this feat!
Holy guacamole, Batman. Kevin Silva’s Batcave holds the world’s biggest collection of Batman memorabilia with over 2,501 items. After 45 years of collecting, Kevin was recognized by Guinness World Records on October 25, 2013.
Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood you’ll find the world’s biggest collection of Winnie the Pooh memorabilia. On October 18, 2015, Deb Hoffman was recognized by Guinness World Records for her collection which started with one tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff given to her by her parents & growing to 13,213 items.
Lisa Courtney had to catch ’em all and on the way caught a world record! On 14 October 14, 2010, Guinness World Records recognized Lisa’s collection of Pokemon memorabilia as the biggest with 14,410 different items from the UK, US, France and Japan.
Anything is possible, just ask Bettina Dorfmann. On 10 October 2011, she broke the Guinness World Record for the biggest collection of Barbie dolls with over 15,000 items.
The force is strong with this one. Steve Sansweet is the owner of a Star Wars memorabilia collection with an estimate of 300,000 items. On 4 May 2015, Guinness World Records recognized his collection as the biggest of its kind in the world. Pretty impressive, this is, hmm? Yeessss.
