When it comes to the world of hobbies, model train collecting is about as old and timeless as it comes.
The German toy company Märklin dates back to 1859. Originally, Märklin specialized in doll house accessories, before shifting its focus to model railways and technical toys. As a result, many Märklin collectibles have become quite valuable. So we decided to take a look at Märklin’s line of locomotives.
Remember, estimated values tend to fluctuate, especially as we add more and more items and price points to ensure the guide’s accuracy. Also, keep in mind that these are the values for items found solely on hobbyDB (and there are still many Märklin items missing but this is a fun start). Scroll below for more information on how you can help us build our Model Train database. Follow this link for a current list of the Most Valuable Märklin Locomotives on hobbyDB.

My dad ran an HO 3-rail system in the 60s-80s. My favorite loco was his Crocodile (similar to the 3 shown here)!
