As good as they come – we will miss Richard Gottlieb

Musings By Joschik
Christian obsesses over collectibles, antiques and toys more than the average person, but (he believes) in a productive way. Documenting collectibles has been a passion since working on a book about his favorite childhood toys from Timpo 41 years ago.

R.I.P. Richard

I cold-emailed Richard before even arriving in the US in 2012 and since then he has always been there for me and our team.  His first email asked “How would you like me to contribute?” and that just represented who he was. He gave advice, made many introductions, joined our Advisory Council, became an investor in hobbyDB, and constantly had good ideas.  Parties hosted by him and his lovely wife Wendy were the highlight of the New York Toy Fair and he was his jolly old self despite the inability to speak when we met last a few weeks ago at the Toy Fair.  He was in the business of giving and he did it with incredible grace.  You can read a little bit more about him here where he talks about Ozma of Oz and himself.

Richard, I miss you and hope there are toys, toy people, and never-ending toy fairs in heaven.
