Art Toy of the Week – the BakeUsagi

I have been collecting designer toys since 2004 and plan a weekly column here.  I also have other interests (I am for example the Curator of the Breyer HorsesSylvanian Families and Warne’s  Observer’s Pocket Books and generally am known to add anything cute to my collection).

For my first Art Toy of the Week I wanted to share Bakeusagi from Yasu Ebinekoya. This is one of her menagerie of figures and is a cool 5” tall rabbit-esque sofubi (soft Japanese vinyl) figure from Japanese artist.

We got 6 more variants here for you!  The artist goes also under just Yasu or Ebineko and each of her figures is lovingly hand-painted by her and so beautifully done too! She’s a fan of glow-in-the-dark and glitter vinyl so these are often included in her figures. I love the detail squeezed in, from the paws to the fur around the neck. They are always very reasonably priced too so if you ever get a chance to pick one up at a show or an online retailer, you have to move fast as they don’t hang ’round for long!
