I have been collecting designer toys since 2004 and this is my weekly column. I also have other interests (I am for example the Curator of the Breyer Horses and Warne’s Observer’s Pocket Books and generally am known to add anything cute to my collection).
This week’s Art Toy of the Week is Negora by Konatsu. This distinctive little cat like sofubi creature is extremely popular and has been released in a number of different positions and sizes, but here I’m focusing on the most popular 3.5″ standard figure.
Mike (Minor) Negora
Negora are very moreish! You cannot have just one of them and Konatsu is regularly releasing new colourways to tempt you. They have been released as standard colours, glow in the dark, clear and even clear with decorations inside. Some have necklaces, including the birthstone series which had real tiny gemstones hanging from their necks. They are often included in sets, especially Konatsu’s annual holiday set. If you can catch them when they’re released they’re usually very reasonably priced around $40-$50, but once they’re sold out that price can skyrocket, if you can find people willing to part with them!
