Art Toy of the Week – Lunartik in a Cup of Tea

I have been collecting designer toys since 2004 and this is my weekly column.  I also have other interests (I am for example the Curator of the Breyer Horses and Warne’s Observer’s Pocket Books and generally am known to add anything cute to my collection).

This week’s Art Toy of the Week is Lunartik in a Cup of Tea by Lunartik, specifically the larger figures. There is nothing more British than a cuppa and UK artist, Matt Jones aka Lunartik, has leant hard into that! His Cup of Tea figures have been released in two sizes, an itty bitty 2″ figure and this much larger 6.5″ figure. The larger figures come with a separate saucer, a spoon, two little cubes of sugar and, of course, a tea bag!

There have been a number of variants of the larger figure, including a very fun “Mr T” version (get it? haha!). There are some still available to buy directly from Lunartik on his website, including some artist proofs, or you can find older figures occasionally for sale elsewhere including eBay.
