Buttering Up to the Collectible Popcorn Bucket Craze

The collectible Popcorn Bucket craze is hotter than melted butter these days.

The trend picked up steam last summer and recently hit a fever pitch with the release of the Collectible Sandworm Vessel, colloquially known as the Dune 2 Popcorn Bucket.

What is it about the popcorn bucket fad that has people bringing the movie theater experience home with them and into their collections? In many ways, these days, the measure of how big a blockbuster film is depends on whether or not it’s popcorn bucket worthy.

We’re even starting to get multiple options per movie. For example, fans who took in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” this March could choose between the Ghost Trap and Slimer buckets.

And while the values are still in the early stages, we’re starting to see the market for popcorn buckets rise, the aforementioned Ghost Trap has an estimated hobbyDB value of $40 to Slimer’s $55.

We’re even starting to see old movies receive the popcorn bucket treatment. Behold the “Star Wars: Phantom Menace” bucket released in 2024.

Popcorn buckets are becoming so big that the upcoming “Deadpool & Wolverine” movie had to recently disspell fake leaks online in the run up to its July release.

Fans of “Terrifier 3” have flocked to change.org to petition for their favorite design before the film hits the big screen this autumn. As of this writing, the petition had already reached 4,188 of its 5,000 signature goal. Sign it here!
