Get to Know Pinfinity

We recently chatted with Pinfinity co-founder Matthew Arevalo to discuss some history, inspirations and the future of Pinfinity –

When was Pinfinity created?

We kicked off our Pinfinity journey in 2020, with a vision to bring a new twist to the world of collectibles. We wanted to bridge the gap between traditional collecting and modern technology by infusing our pins with augmented reality, thereby creating an innovative experience for pin enthusiasts everywhere.

What was the inspiration behind Pinfinity?

The spark for Pinfinity ignited from our love for both technology and nostalgia. We were captivated by the idea of collectible pins that could interact with digital content. This vision of blending the tactile beauty of enamel pins with dynamic, digital experiences led to the creation of Pinfinity. Our goal was to transform static collections into interactive, engaging stories that unfold through augmented reality.

How would you describe Pinfinity to a beginner collector?

Imagine stepping into a world where every pin you collect has a life beyond its metal and enamel. At Pinfinity, each pin acts as a portal to augmented reality, transforming your collection into a multimedia adventure right from your smartphone. Scan a pin, and suddenly you’re experiencing animations, sound clips, or even exclusive content related to the theme of the pin. It’s a perfect starting point for anyone eager to experience a new layer of collecting, combining the joy of physical collectibles with the excitement of digital exploration.

What are the best sellers?

Among our array of pins, the Black Lotus and the D20 actual random rolling die pins have emerged as fan favorites. The Black Lotus pin, in particular, combines iconic imagery with AR features that enchant fans of magical realms, while the D20 pin offers a fun, interactive dice-rolling experience that gamers adore.

How would you describe the Pinfinity community?

The Pinfinity community is an incredible, vibrant group of individuals who share a passion for both pop culture and pioneering technology. They are collectors, tech enthusiasts, and storytellers who appreciate the artistry of our pins and the augmented reality experiences that come with them. It’s a community where creativity and fandom intersect, creating a supportive and enthusiastic atmosphere.

What’s the best way to add Pinfinity pins to our collections?

To start your Pinfinity collection, simply choose pins that resonate with your interests. Each pin is designed to be more than just a collectible—it’s a conversation starter, a piece of art, and a portal to digital content. Use our app to scan your pins and unlock the augmented reality features, which will enhance your collecting experience with every scan.

What’s the future have in store for Pinfinity?

Looking ahead, we are buzzing with excitement over the upcoming releases and partnerships. This year alone, we’re planning exclusive drops with themes from Fallout, Magic: The Gathering, and Godzilla, along with some thrilling surprises involving notable partners and collaborations. The future for Pinfinity is all about pushing the boundaries of what collecting can be—more immersive, more interactive, and even more fun.

Thanks, Matthew!! Check out the Pinfinity Official Archive on hobbyDB!
