Art Toy of the Week – Teddy Troops

I have been collecting designer toys since 2004 and this is my weekly column.  I also have other interests (I am for example the Curator of the Breyer Horses and Warne’s Observer’s Pocket Books and generally am known to add anything cute to my collection).

This week’s Art Toy of the Week are Teddy Troops from Flying Fortress and produced by Adfunture and Artoyz. The first Teddy Troops, rather chonky bear figures with an extra large hat, were first released back in 2004, with the first three 3.5″ figures (Basic Red, Shark and Shaved) proving very popular and quickly leading onto further special editions and artist series. It was about 2007 when the whopper 10″ figures with removable helmet were released in limited numbers, they are really solid figures too! In 2017 a whole new wave of slightly modified 4″ figures were released through Artoyz.

These are really nice sized figures and not too hard to pick up, including some of the newer figures still available at retailers. The larger 10″ figures are more scarce though and some of the earlier artist figures are more desirable.
