Art Toy of the Week – Kanser

I have been collecting designer toys since 2004 and this is my weekly column.  I also have other interests (I am for example the Curator of the Breyer Horses and Warne’s Observer’s Pocket Books and generally am known to add anything cute to my collection).

This week’s Art Toy of the Week is the unusual Kanser by Keith Poon and produced by ToyQube back in 2008. This quirky small-run figure stands a chunky 6″ tall and the “cap” on top is entirely removable to reveal a face underneath. There were several artist figures as well as the standard designs from Keith, they were from Andrew Bell, Filth and Mad.

You can still pick up second hand mint-in-box Kansers on auction sites for very reasonable amounts, I’ve seen them up for sale for around $40. I have one of the Andrew Bell ones and he’s a fun figure.
