• Display culture is thriving: Whether you’re a “Box Wall Architect” or an “Out-of-Box Adventurer (Yes that’s a reference to you Mr Tirone with an “I”,” presentation has become part of the fun.
• Community over chaos: Smaller groups, trades, and local meet-ups are shaping collecting habits more than global hype.

Still Worth It? Yes – If You Collect Smart

Funko Pops are absolutely still worth collecting – if you’re collecting with purpose.

Here’s why:

• Value isn’t just monetary – it’s nostalgic, emotional, and expressive.
• Funko is adapting – think NFTs, die-cast Pops, and digital exclusives.
• Niche is thriving – anime, horror, and gaming Pops are booming.
• South African exclusives from Comic Con and specialty retailers make the local scene exciting and unique.

Think of it like collecting vinyl. It’s not always about resale value – it’s about what they mean to you.

The Future of the Pop World

So, what’s next? A few predictions from the collector trenches:

• Less mass production, more exclusivity – we may see quality over quantity take the lead.
• More personalisation – imagine ordering a Pop of yourself, beyond just the Pop! Yourself kiosk.
