The Thrill of the Hunt: See Who Owns What with Premium

There’s something exciting about scrolling through the hobbyDB Collectibles Catalog – you might spot that one elusive piece you’ve been chasing for years — the holy grail of your collection. And then it happens: your eyes land on that item — the one you’ve been searching for forever. Maybe it’s a rare edition, a discontinued model, or a piece that always seemed just out of reach. The holy grail of your collection, sitting there, perfectly preserved, owned by someone who appreciates it just as much as you would.

And here’s the best part: hobbyDB now makes it easy for you see who owns that special item so you can start a conversation. Suddenly, that long-lost item you thought you’d never find might actually be within reach.

With Premium, members can now click on the In # of Collections portion on the Database item pages to see who claims the item as their own. You can then send them a Private Message, giving you the chance to make an offer or propose a trade.

Now you can work together with your fellow collectors to make trades to complete your collection.

And when you click on More, you can see what the other person wants, and what else they own in their Showcase!

A few important points

Please be aware: People don’t always update their collections when they sell something or get out of the hobby, so you sometimes may see a few more people claim to have owned an item than were actually made. Hopefully this doesn’t happen too often.

To help avoid spammers: We’ve limited these types of private messages to 10 messages a month. Replies do not count and your message count will restore on the 1st of every month.

Be kind to one another: Please when messaging folks follow the golden rule and our T&Cs – be kind to one another or you’ll be removed from the platform!

Don’t want messages, no problem: If you want your collection to stay private, never fear you can set it as so – instructions for how to do so can be found here.
