Welcome to the seventh edition of our pricey ponies blog! As we are on the run up to Christmas, the “treat yo’self” train is full steam ahead! No one understands the need for model ponies better than yourself, especially when you’re dropping astronomical sums, so, treat yo’self!
An exceptionally rare Breyer, Carlisle was released at Breyerfest back in 2012. He was part of the Live Auction and a raffle prize on the Saturday, only 26 were released. So it was no surprise one sold for an amazing $3,290 when he came up on eBay!
This chap has been featured before. Poseidon is a striking Breyer Collector’s Club release from 2013, just 230 pieces were produced. He’s a grail figure for those who collect this mould, so when one came up on eBay recently he went for $1,470!
An elegant Breyer figure, Sarong was an exclusive release at the Ponies & Palm Trees event in 2022. Only 104 were produced. One that does not come up often, so when one appeared on eBay they went for $1,200!
This older Breyer figure is a grail figure for many. The “Speck” Proud Arabian Mare (not to be confused with the later Family Arabian Mare) was a short run piece back in the 1960s. Two have come up recently on eBay, one went for $2,100 and the second for $3,000!
This mule Breyer figure is brand new for 2025 as part of the limited Premier Series. Winnifred had a chase colour, a grey pinto, of which only 75 were released. A couple of have now resold on eBay and have gone for around $3,500!
This handsome Breyer was an exclusive release for the Velvet Rope event in 2008. Puttin’ on the Ritz only had 100 pieces released. When one popped up on eBay he went for $3,197!
Another figure on the popular Othello mould by Breyer, Silverado was a limited edition release in 2008 of just 350 pieces. When one came up for auction he went for $1,325!
This is a little Breyer oddity. The Cantering Stock Horse is a smaller scale Breyer Stablemate. He was released in 2007 but quickly vanished again, rumours are there were problems with the mould. This has made the few that did get sold a bit of a grail. One popped up on eBay and sold for $1,300!
A stunning Breyer figure, Hippodrome was a very limited Breyerfest Raffle Prize from 2023. Just 25 pieces were released. On eBay one came up and went for $5,000!
This handsome heavy horse Breyer was an exclusive release back in 2016 for the Chasing the Chesapeake event. Only 50 of Testudo were produced. One did come up on eBay recently and went for $1,000!
Another handsome heavy horse Breyer, Coconut Grove was an exclusive release for the Ponies & Palm Trees event in 2022. Only 48 were produced. One did come up on eBay and went for $1,000!
On the same Belgian mould as above, this chunky Belgian was in the blue “Copenhagen” colourway and is possibly a test piece, only two are known to exist. When this one came up at auction he went for $6,000!
This is a stunning limited edition porcelain Breyer figure released in 2011 at Breyerfest. Sorcerer’s Apprentice only had 125 pieces produced. One came to auction recently and the hammer went down at $1,025!
A stunning rare Breyer draft horse, Palisades was a limited edition figure for the Passage to the Pacific event in 2012. Only 80 pieces were produced. When one went to auction he went for $2,650!
This is a striking Peter Stone appaloosa horse released in 2023. Stockings Fulla Coal is a one of a kind piece and he came up for resale on eBay, selling for $1,180!
Another stunning figure by Peter Stone, Endling is a limited edition of just 10 pieces released in this year with the colour inspired by the extinct Quagga. One came up on eBay and went for $1,000!
A striking Peter Stone horse from 2018, Kaleidoscope was limited to just 15 pieces. When one came up for auction he went for $1,025!
A vintage porcelain piece of the Spanish Riding School called “In the Posts” by Augarten (Austria), this is a detailed piece that isn’t often up for sale. One came up on eBay recently and went for $1,500!
