Jim Sneed created the best database on wooden toys and it is now available on hobbyDB

If you collect antique toys you have most likely perused privately run reference and collectors’ site founded by U.S. toy collector and researcher Jim Sneed, focused on wooden and metal children’s toys made before 1945, especially the Schoenhut Humpty Dumpty Circus and other American manufacturers.

Over the last two decades it has grown into a large hobbyist archive with hundreds of company histories, identification guides, restoration notes, and photo-based articles contributed by Sneed and others such as Judith Lile (Punch and Judy articles), Richard P. Mueller Jr. (company histories like Performo and East Aurora) and Steve Mayo, whose Ted Toys are featured.

A very big thank you to Jim to allow hobbyDB to use the data  (an endeavor that took some time and is now almost completed)!  Items from more than 100 toy companies have been added  –

For example the amazing  Gong Bell Manufacturing Ringing Racer  –

Jim is also the Editor of the Schoenhut Collectors Club Newsletter and a collector of the Schoenhut Humpty Dumpty circus, here is a part of his collection  –

Lastly, Jim is always interested in buying toys or collections and offers restoration like restringing Schoenhut items ($16–$40 per piece)!  You can find him via www.oldwoodtoys.com!
