“I’ve been a Matchbox guy since 1976. What keeps me here—five decades later—is the same thing that hooked me as a kid: the “real world” authenticity.
My collection is a roadmap of my life. I built it the old-school way: hitting retail shelves with my father as a kid, scouring flea markets, attending local MBUSA club meetings, traveling to regional diecast shows, and waiting by the mailbox for Charlie Mack’s MBUSA updates. I’ve lived through the evolution of the hobby, from hand-written 3-ring binders and Lotus 123 spreadsheets to the 30-year MS Excel master file I maintain today. Whether it’s early Moko/Lesney items, Regular Wheels or Superfast mainlines, the focus has always been the ‘real world’ authenticity of the models and the thrill of the find.
Now, it’s time for the next evolution.
I’m making the leap to hobbyDB to catalog, value, and share my entire collection. I’m here to share the passion, contribute to the community, and help catalog the history of the brand that’s been a constant for me since day one. I am thrilled to join hobbyDB as a curator, migrating my life’s work from spreadsheets to the world’s largest living collector database.
It’s been a long, strange trip from paper binders to digital databases, but I’m enjoying every mile! The hunt continues.”
