GeePeeKay and hobbyDB Introduce: Adam Bomb Limited Edition “Art by John Pound” Sticker Card – Week 2

Garbage Pail Kids

Welcome to Week 2 of the Limited Edition “Art by John Pound” Sticker Card Collection presented by GeePeeKay and hobbyDB.

Last week we debuted our officially-licensed Adam Bomb sticker card featuring a classic white border. Now we’re proud to introduce the second variant in the collection, Adam Bomb with a Bruised border.

The dark blue exclusive card comes with a rarity of just 400 produced and are individually numbered on the back.

The exclusive card is part of a collaboration between GeePeeKay and hobbyDB to celebrate the creation of our Garbage Pail Kids archive and marketplace. So to earn the unique piece of Garbage Pail Kids nostalgia, we’re going to ask for your help in building a bigger and better database – in the form of fun weekly tasks.

Week 2 Task: Jump on the GeePeeKay Database Wagon!

Now that you’ve created an account, let’s start filling in your profile with the things you love. To be eligible for the Adam Bomb bruised border card, we’re asking you to add 10 items to your wishlist powered by hobbyDB.

GeePeeKay

Simply click the “+Wishlist” button to add to your collection!

The process is as fun as it is simple and the best part is, the items you select don’t have to be GPK related. Peruse the hobbyDB website for your favorite characters and brands, such as Funko, Hot Wheels and Topps, as well as thousands of other collectibles from throughout the world.

When you find that must-have item, simply click the “+Wishlist” button located to the right of the item image. Add 10 items to your Wishlist and you’ll unlock the ability to purchase the Adam Bomb bruised border sticker card.

Remember, you must complete our first task to become eligible for the second card. See below for further instructions. Cards are limited to one per user.

Make sure to check back on Wednesday for the next card and task.

How Everything Works

GeePeeKayGeePeeKayWe’re gamifying the Garbage Pail Kids experience. To craft the most complete Garbage Pail Kids’ archive, we’re asking for your help and feedback about our features. In short, we’re going to ask you to be more of a Handy Andy than a Lazy Louie in order to obtain this exclusive set.

The six-card set will be available by unlocking levels pertaining to the Garbage Pail Kids database. Each Wednesday we’ll offer an opportunity to buy the next card in the series, along with another task to obtain it. As the challenges rise, so, too, does the rarity of the cards.

Cards are limited to one per user and sold via the GeePeeKay and hobbyDB marketplaces. Please note, to be fair to all collectors we will refund purchases of multiple cards. Cards will ship upon completion of each task.

Late to the game? Do not fear. You can make up weekly tasks provided cards remain.

GeePeeKay and hobbyDB Partnering For Garbage Pail Kids Archive

Like some of the greatest tandems in Garbage Pail Kids history — such as Half-Nelson, Split-Kit or Crossover Kent — GeePeeKay has teamed with the collectibles ecosystem hobbyDB to revolutionize the GPK experience.

The new partnership will feature a complete archive of every Garbage Pail Kids sticker card and all merchandise created, centered around a GPK-specific marketplace.

GeePeeKay

Think of it as a community home for all things related to Adam Bomb and his thousands of creepy cohorts.

To celebrate the union, GeePeeKay and hobbyDB have teamed together to offer a new version of the Garbage Pail Kids’ mascot in the form of an officially-licensed, six-card set exclusive to GeePeeKay.

The Archive

What separates the GeePeeKay library powered by hobbyDB from other archives is our attention to the finest of details. In addition to all base sets, we’re cataloging every variation of Garbage Pail Kids sticker cards, including different colored borders and languages. We believe this will allow all levels of GPK enthusiasts to accurately sync their collections.

Among those variations, we’re documenting all legitimate card changes – think of the infamous “Schizo Fran – Fran Fran” controversy from Original Series 2, for example.

The catalog will also be home to all known and industry-recognized errors. That means you’ll find even the rarest of cards, such as the Series 9 #355b Semi Colin (No Number).

GeePeeKayWhile the library is still a work in progress, it’s expanding everyday courtesy of Matt from GeePeeKay, Chris from hobbyDB and Andy Goodman.  Thanks also to Ira Friedman and Alfred Tam from Topps, both for advice, allowing us to create the Limited Edition cards and lots of images (many still to be uploaded), to noted GPK enthusiast Adam Goldberg, of ABC’s “The Goldbergs” who has started adding some of his amazing collection and Mike Horn for introductions.

GeePeeKay Marketplace

While the rare cards might be difficult to find, it’s never been easier to locate your favorite characters, series and collections, as well as those elusive individual cards needed to complete your set. That’s thanks to a GeePeeKay Marketplace powered by hobbyDB, where buying and selling are made easy with just a few clicks of a button on a secure system.

Collection Management

Whether you own a rare Semi Colin or are just a casual collector, you’re going to want to show-off your collection. Our new management tools allow you to stylize your profile to proudly display that collection you’ve tirelessly worked to build.

Got an eye on a special card? Try our Wishlist feature to keep track of them. And be sure to follow the valuation of your cards as we add them to the library.

Price Guide

You’re going to want to know how much all your hard work is worth. Now you can with our Price Guide tools. Our system pulls prices from curators, marketplaces and eBay to assign an item’s value. Thanks to a team of volunteers, we’re working to assign values to all items before the end of the year.

GeePeeKay and hobbyDB Team Up for Garbage Pail Kids Exclusive

GPK Teaser

As hard as it is to keep a straight face while uttering the names Wrinkled Rita, Bad Breath Seth or Adam Bomb, we have to say that our latest collaboration with GeePeeKay is no laughing matter.

Garbage Pail Kids Exclusive

GeePeeKay and hobbyDB have teamed together to offer a piece of Garbage Pail Kids nostalgia.

Joining us in smiling from ear-to-ear, however, is permissible as we introduce the latest collaboration between hobbyDB and GeePeeKay. Later this week we’ll unveil a new Garbage Pail Kids item that will be available exclusively via the hobbyDB and the GeePeeKay marketplaces.

Although we would have loved to offer a statue, as originally planned, a cost explosion of Adam Bomb proportions would have run up the retail cost of the collectible to somewhere between $400 and $500. We haven’t given up on the idea, but we’re equally, if not more, excited to offer the opportunity to own a unique piece of Garbage Pail Kids’ nostalgia.

The new collectible is part of a partnership to provide the complete Garbage Pail Kids experience. Look for new collection management tools and upgrades, including personalized collection pages and customized displays, as well as a GPK-focused marketplace. All of which will be centered around a complete database of Garbage Pail Kids trading cards and merchandise.

The big reveal will happen at 8 a.m. MT on Wednesday, April 17! Stay tuned to the GeePeeKay Facebook page as well as the hobbyDB Facebook page to see what’s in store!
