Newly Added to hobbyDB: Curators Sought for Smurfs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and More

We reached a major milestone in October when we added the 500,000th item to the hobbyDB database.

But we weren’t done. Not even close. We are, after all, on a mission to add over one billion collectibles…eventually.

Since reaching the 500K mark we’ve added more than four thousand additional items with more arriving in the database by the hour.

Homer SimpsonAnd here’s where you can help. We’re always looking for experts to join the hobbyDB team as curators.

Our curators oversee the subject of their expertise, checking for accuracy, adding proper images and ensuring the overall quality.

The best part is, that with a half million items in the database, there are plenty of subjects and collectibles that could use the keen eye of a curator.

If this sounds like something that’s a good fit for you, or if you have any questions or concerns, let us know by sending a message to

Newly Added to hobbyDB

Here’s a look at some of our favorite new items recently added to the hobbyDB database…

Signature Series

Among the recent additions we’re most excited about, is our expanded collection of autographed items.

We asked and you answered with a convincing “yes” when it comes to adding signed items to the database. We started simple with recognized distributors such as 7 Bucks A Pop and ToyZilla, but are now entering the next phase, which will also include signed items for Hot Wheels and other brands. Read about it here.

Smurf villages are pretty big. So it makes sense that our Smurf database on hobbyDB is home to more than 900 items related to our little blue friends. A majority of those includes the popular hand-painted Schleich brand figures.

Where’s our FigPin fanatics at? From Ariel to Dragon Ball Z and everything between, you’ll find more than 400 FigPins on hobbyDB.All Might
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Cowabunga dudes! We’re looking for a curator to join Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael (and hobbyDB). Check out the recent addition of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Is Astro Lion the worst toy ever?

I kind of missed Masters of the Universe TV Show and its 100s of associated toys as a child but even so see them now joining hobbyDB.  Some of them are quite cool and as toys incredible imaginative.  Others less so.  The worst to me seems to be Astro Lion.

Astro Lion was a Meteorb, a race that could transform from an animal-like form to something else.  Sounds cool, until you hear they can transform into an Egg.

Sounds like Benjamin Button only that they can come back.  Cannot really see the excitement for a kid to play with so am awarding it with the worst toy ever – can you beat it?  Let us know in the comments! Oh, and please don’t forget to add an image.
